Adjunct Faculty, Environmental Science (Wildlife Ecology and Management)

Adjunct faculty at Stevenson University will engage in teaching activities in accordance with the University’s faculty workload policies. Responsibilities include teaching courses in wildlife ecology and management, and possibly other related courses in the Environmental Sciences major within the Department of Biological Sciences and Fine School of the Sciences.

• Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 18 contact hours per academic year (August through May), with no more than 9 contact hours taught in an individual semester.
• Prepare teaching materials, conduct classroom and laboratory instruction, and prepare students for assessments.
• Grade coursework within a timeframe that allows students to incorporate feedback into subsequent assignments; submit mid‑term and final grades, attendance verification, and academic alerts as required.
• Managing syllabi, responding to emails promptly, and maintaining academic records in accordance with university reporting requirements.
• Respond to student feedback, attend professional development training, and maintain collegiality and professional ethics in all interactions with faculty, students, administrators, and the public.
• Teach day or evening classes as required and meet class schedules for the full class time during the scheduled dates and times.
• Travel between campuses, work evenings and weekends as needed, and provide academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities.

• Master’s degree or higher in biological or related science; doctoral degree strongly preferred.
• Strong commitment to quality teaching and at least two years of college‑level teaching experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Knowledge of wildlife ecology and management and environmental science.
• Demonstrated teaching ability in environmental science or related science courses.
• Ability to instruct students of varying preparation and abilities, and to create inclusive learning experiences.
• Excellent interpersonal and cultural competency skills with the ability to communicate professionally with diverse constituencies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with educational assessment practices.
• Experience with Blackboard or a similar learning management system.
• Well‑developed organizational, reasoning, and problem‑solving skills; excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and work effectively with colleagues.

Light work: may involve exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; requires sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, keyboarding, and repetitive motions. Requires close visual acuity. Faculty may be exposed to chemicals, biologicals, magnetic fields, and scientific equipment/instrumentation in laboratories.

Anticipated to be $1,191-$1,389 per credit/contact hour (subject to minimum enrollment).
