Founded in 1873, Notre Dame Preparatory School (NDP) is a Catholic, independent, college-preparatory school for girls in grades 6–12 located on a beautiful 65-acre campus in Towson, Maryland. Position Overview The Middle School Learning Specialist partners with students, teachers, parents, and administrators to ensure that students with diverse learning profiles receive the academic support, accommodations, and strategies necessary to thrive. The Learning Specialist fosters student self-advocacy, executive functioning skills, and confidence while promoting an inclusive learning environment aligned with the school's mission.
The Learning Specialist serves as a collaborative resource to faculty by providing consultation on differentiated instruction, and evidence-based interventions that support all learners. This full-time, fully on-site, 10-month position runs August 16 to June 15 annually, to include new employee orientation August 17 - 19, 2026. Actual reporting dates assigned per school calendar.
Job Responsibilities:
The Middle Level Resource Specialist's areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the ability to:
Provide individualized and small-group academic support and instruction for students with identified learning needs; providing academic support individually or in classroom settings.
As a member of the Middle Level Faculty, teach a 6th grade English class.
Teach executive functioning skills, including organization, time management, planning, study strategies, and self-monitoring.
Support students in developing self-advocacy skills appropriate for middle school.
Assist students in implementing classroom accommodations and learning strategies based on documented needs.
Consult with faculty regarding accommodations and classroom supports.
Participate in grade-level and Student Support Team meetings.
Provide professional development related to learning differences, executive functioning, and inclusive practices.
Meet with parents to discuss student progress and recommend strategies for home support.
Develop, maintain, and monitor Individual Learning Plans based on documentation.
Coordinate accommodations for classroom instruction and assessments, including standardized testing.
Maintain confidential student records in accordance with school policy.
Promote an inclusive culture that values neurodiversity and diverse learning styles.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualification and Expertise Bachelor's Degree in Education with Special Education endorsements. Master's Degree preferred.
Candidates with previous teaching experience and MSDE certification preferred.
Certification in Orton-Gillinghan, Phono Graphix, Wilson or other research-based reading intervention strategy required
Minimum of three (3) years of related and relevant work experience through a combination of direct teaching students in a variety of classes and age groups as well as experience creating learning plans.
Experience with Middle Level (Grades 6 –
8) preferred. Additional related work experience preferred.
Experience interpreting psycho educational evaluations.
Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of the School Learning Resources department and the NDP Middle Level community in addition to students, teachers, parents, and school administration

Compensation & Benefits Notre Dame Preparatory School offers a competitive, market-aligned compensation package commensurate with the seniority, scope, and impact of this role.
