Senior Structural / Bridge Engineer

Direct Hire – Towson/Baltimore, MD. Some field work/travel required, primarily local.

Manage tasks and projects, mentor younger staff, and lead team members in the design of highway (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, load rating, and other related structures. Support a wide variety of structural transportation projects for state departments of transportation, county, municipal and private clients. Chance to work on related structures in other states through interoffice staff utilization program.

• Serve in a lead technical role on bridge or structural design projects.
• Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of mid‑to‑large multi‑discipline projects or medium‑sized bridge projects with a high degree of technical complexity, involving a diverse project staff.
• Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
• Conduct schematic, design development and contractual document work sessions in conjunction with PMs, technical professionals, and other disciplines.
• Ensure project deliverables and supporting documentation are complete, understandable, conform to applicable and reasonable standards relative to their intended purposes, including client requirements.
• Coordinate staffing and workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
• Work with Business/Accounting Manager and the Discipline/Managing Director for project reviews.
• Implement QA/QC procedures and complete reviews of bridge plans for projects.
• Execute training and development for personnel and act as mentor/supervisor for less experienced Project Managers, while maintaining professional engineering registration.

• 10+ years of relevant experience in analysis and design of new and rehabilitation structures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Required Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT licensure.
• Business development and strategic planning experience.
• Strong communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to interact with various design teams, with excellent organizational, project management and communication both written and verbal skills.
• Perform hands‑on bridge condition inspections and be comfortable with heights.
• Proficiency in any of the following software: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, LARSA The Client, LPile, MDX, Descus, AASHTOWare BrR, Merlin DASH, sp Column, PennDOT software packages, Bentley Micro Station and/or Open Roads/Bridge software.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with co‑workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members.
