A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our Transportation Engineering team. Opportunities are available in Towson, MD;
Rockville, MD; or Raleigh, NC offices.
- Traffic operations analysis
- Traffic modeling
- Micro-simulation
- Capacity analysis
- Safety investigations
- Development of traffic impact studies
- Transportation planning studies
- Feasibility studies
- Conduct traffic operational analysis utilizing various modeling tools.
- Provide analytical support for the development of design solutions and operational improvements.
- Perform crash data analysis and conduct safety studies for intersections and corridors.
- Prepare summary tables, sketches, and exhibits to effectively communicate technical findings.
- Author technical reports and prepare technical memoranda.
- Tabulate, process, and prepare deliverables related to traffic data collection tasks.
- Undertake on-site field investigations as necessary.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) with 3‑6 years of experience in traffic engineering.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required;
Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is a plus. - Demonstrated understanding of traffic analysis concepts and experience with traffic model development.
- Proficiency in using software such as Synchro/Sim Traffic/Warrants, SIDRA, and HCS.
- Working knowledge of roadway design principles.
- Familiarity with MUTCD, ITE, FHWA, and AASHTO manuals and procedures.
- Experience with Micro Station and/or AutoCAD is considered a plus.
- Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.
