Transportation Engineer

Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is an employee‑owned civil engineering firm headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. We provide services in transportation, traffic design, water and wastewater systems, environmental and water resources, and landscape architecture. AMT employs nearly 500 professionals who design and deliver projects that positively impact communities across the Mid‑Atlantic.

A Transportation Engineer with a minimum of three years of relevant experience is sought to join the transportation team at one of our Mid‑Atlantic office locations. This role supports a variety of projects and may involve collaboration with other AMT offices and project opportunities.

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution (required)
• Minimum three years of experience in roadway, highway, and traffic control plan preparation (required)
• Engineering‑in‑Training (EIT/FE) certification (preferred)
• Experience with Micro Station Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D (required)
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co‑workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members

• Support a variety of projects, including data collection, existing condition and alternative analysis, and engineering reports
• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments
• Perform cross‑section and superelevation design, roadside barrier design, ADA curb ramp design, roadway modeling
• Provide design support for erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, right‑of‑way plans, utility relocation plans, permit application drawings, and traffic‑related plans
