Engineer II, Mechanical – Hybrid
Location:
Towson, MD, United States. Hybrid position requiring onsite work at least 3 days per week.
- Support the design process to achieve quality, performance, schedule, and cost objectives in a cross‑functional environment.
- Perform hands‑on concept development, prototyping, product testing, data collection, and definition of product specifications.
- Carry out stack‑ups and system analysis to ensure product assembly and functionality remain consistent throughout its lifetime.
- Investigate design issues and test failures, recommend and implement corrective actions to components.
- Construct 3D models to evaluate design options.
- Collaborate with Product Marketing, Reliability, and Field Research teams to define customer requirements and develop tests that duplicate end‑user tasks.
- Work with a core team of 3–4 engineers/designers to develop a product from start to finish, ensuring appropriate documentation is created and maintained for component designs and engineering test results.
- Support the builds of engineering, manufacturing, and pilot lots to verify correct assembly and testing for long‑term product quality.
- Assist the engineering process for all requirements to deliver a product that meets the company’s reputation for durable tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1 to 3 years of experience.
- Computer literate; proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, 2D/3D CAD, and FEA.
- Ability to dissect problems to locate root causes and devise effective solutions.
- Hands‑on approach to building, testing, and debugging tools throughout the development cycle.
- Experience with statistical tools, process capability, DOE, stack‑ups, and GD&T.
- Coordination of internal resources for testing and analysis.
- Adaptability to fast‑paced design cycles averaging 2 years and a dynamic work environment.
- Willingness to travel internationally to visit manufacturing locations, if required.
Salary range: $72,000.00 – $ (annual, full‑time). The salary may vary based on job level, location, and qualifications.
