Program DirectionUnder general supervision, plans, develops, implements, and conducts programs providing professional nutrition services.
Examples of Essential Duties- Plans, implements, conducts and evaluates programs providing various nutrition services such as nutrition assessment, counseling, and education.
- Supervises subordinate staff.
- Develops and implements the nutrition education component of public health programs.
- Conducts studies of local nutritional needs and resources.
- Provides advice, consultation and guidance to human service providers, community organizations, and individuals regarding nutrition.
- Researches, prepares and presents reports on nutrition and related health topics.
- Researches and responds to requests and inquiries from the public and staff.
- Assist in developing grant proposals and justifications.
- Prepares and administers program budgets.
May perform other duties as requested.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nutrition, nutrition education, dietetics, or a related field.
Experience RequirementAt least three years’ of professional experience in human nutrition or dietetics. (Qualifying education beyond a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
Licenses and CertificatesCurrent registration as a Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association and licensure as a Nutritionist by the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice are required at the time of appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, Class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education SubmittalApplicants are required to submit proof of education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Proof of license(s) certifications, and/or education must be submitted with each application.
Proof of Degree EquivalencyApplicants who have obtained a degree from outside the United States of America are required to submit degree equivalence documentation from World Education Services, Inc. (www.
WES.org).
