Position Summary
A Non-Merit vacancy exists in the Department of Aging for a Home Team Specialist. Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.
Schedule:
21 hours per week. The position will be located in the East Baltimore County region (Dundalk, Essex, Middle River, and Rosedale). This job announcement may close at any time with little or no notice. Under general supervision, the Home Team Specialist coordinates the program in the Central and East Baltimore County regions. This includes facilitating and managing all volunteer and client placements.
EssentialJob Duties
- Recruit, screen, and orient volunteers to the Home Team Program.
- Complete all client assessments for older adults in their homes and update client journal notes in the client database.
- Monitor client and volunteer placements and make referrals to other agencies as needed.
- Represent the Home Team Program at community and professional meetings.
- Assist with ongoing volunteer training and volunteer recognition.
- Participate in programmatic meetings for the Home Team Program.
- Working with the supervisor to develop and support ongoing Volunteer Appreciation events/activities.
- Ongoing assistance with the Home Team Program Operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Possession of an associate's degree in a human services related field.
- At least 2 years of experience demonstrating volunteer program coordination.
- Or intermediate knowledge in the recruitment and retention of volunteers.
- Knowledge of aging issues and community resources.
- Knowledge of older adults and persons with disabilities, and their needs.
- Knowledge of theories and principles of aging and disability.
- Knowledge of resources for older adults, caregivers and individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of assessing older adults, caregivers, and persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of Workday.
- Knowledge of MS Word.
- Knowledge of Outlook.
- Skill in volunteer recruitment, retention and training.
- Skill in public speaking and presentations.
- Skill in completing in-home visits.
- Skill in Interpersonal and networking skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to provide excellent customer services skills.
- Ability to utilizing problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
