We are seeking a skilled and motivated Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for the operations and maintenance of our OCI environment, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability. The OCI Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This includes monitoring, managing, and optimizing our cloud environment to ensure high availability, performance, and security.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies, automation, and system administration.

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

This position is Remote.

What You Will Do
  • Infrastructure Management & Automation

Deploy & Manage
:
Implement and manage full-stack cloud infrastructure, including OCI Compute, Block/Object Storage, and advanced Networking.

Automation (IaC):
Drive operational efficiency by automating cloud provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, and OCI Resource Manager.

Database Oversight
:
Monitor and optimize database performance utilizing Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Data Guard, implementing indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.

  • Performance, Monitoring & Scaling

Health & Availability
:
Regularly monitor the health of all OCI resources; establish automated health checks and pre-developed incident response plans.

Metrics & Alerts
:
Use OCI Monitoring to analyze performance metrics and set up proactive alerts for anomalies or threshold breaches.

Optimization
:
Tune resource configurations, implement load balancing, and design auto-scaling policies to ensure optimal service delivery.

Capacity Planning
:
Monitor utilization patterns to ensure sufficient capacity and plan for elastic scaling based on workload demand.

  • Security & Compliance

Identity Management
:
Manage user permissions via OCI IAM, enforcing the Principle of Least Privilege (PoLP) through regular policy reviews.

Threat Detection
:
Utilize OCI Cloud Guard to detect and remediate security threats; enable and monitor audit logs to ensure strict compliance with security policies.

Data Protection
:
Secure data at rest and in transit using OCI Vault; manage encryption keys and certificates while overseeing regular vulnerability scans.

  • Network & Stability

Network Engineering
:
Optimize network configurations, including VCNs, subnets, and gateways, to ensure secure and low-latency connectivity.

Maintenance
:
Manage regular maintenance windows and apply critical patches/updates to maintain system stability and minimize downtime.

  • Strategic Collaboration & Cost Control

Architectural Alignment
:
Collaborate with Cloud Architects to design resilient, scalable solutions that meet evolving mission requirements.

Fin Ops
:
Optimize cloud spending by monitoring usage and implementing cost-saving strategies (e.g., rightsizing, reserved instances).

Continuous Learning
:
Stay current with the OCI roadmap, new features, and industry best practices to maintain a competitive edge.

What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, with deep knowledge of OCI services (Compute, Storage, Networking, IAM).
  • Proficiency in cloud automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and OCI Resource Manager.
  • Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database and Data Guard.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring, Prometheus).
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and tools (e.g., Oracle Identity and Access Management, Cloud Guard).
  • Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Guard, OCI Vault, and compliance auditing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • OCI certifications (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations, Architect, Operations) are a plus.
Nice To Have
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with Dev Ops practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
