Description
The Level 2 System Administrator provides comprehensive support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. This role is responsible for managing IT system infrastructure and supporting day‑to‑day operations across client/server, storage, network, mobile, and database environments. The administrator delivers Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, ensures system reliability, performance, and availability, and communicates system status and resolution updates to agency management and internal customers.
Responsibilities also include configuring and managing UNIX and Windows operating systems, supporting dispatch systems and associated hardware, and assisting with basic database administration tasks to ensure data integrity and system performance.
- Provide implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance support for IT systems
- Deliver Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
- Manage daily configuration, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of IT systems
- Support client/server, storage, network, mobile device, and database environments
- Assist users with accessing and effectively using IT systems and applications
- Monitor system and database performance, optimize operations, and manage resource utilization
- Perform system and database capacity analysis and planning
- Provide in‑depth troubleshooting for complex IT and database‑related issues
- Support escalation processes and communicate system status to agency management and internal customers
- Provide detailed analysis and feedback for escalated trouble tickets
- Support dispatch systems and related hardware issues through resolution
- Configure, manage, and maintain UNIX and Windows operating systems
- Install, load, and troubleshoot operating system software
- Maintain system integrity and configure network components
- Implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance
- Provide support for database systems, including basic administration tasks such as monitoring, backup coordination, user access support, and troubleshooting database‑related issues
- Ten (10) years of experience as a System Administrator supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university
- Five (5) additional years of System Administrator experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree
- Experience supporting database environments (e.g., assisting with monitoring, backups, performance troubleshooting, and user access) is desired
