Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position requiring a MD or compact license and advanced cardiac care certifications.

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a hospital setting
• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30) with possible rotation
• Cares for adult patients post-cardiac surgery including CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR, mitral clips, STEMI/NSTEMI, and cardiogenic shock
• Unit provides care for post-op cardiac surgery, structural heart procedures, and ICU readmissions
• Average patient census is 3-5 patients with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in a 6-bed unit
• Specialized procedures include management of inotropic medications, hemodynamic instability, CRRT, ECMO, IABP, OHS/Impella
• Floating to MSICU is required as needed
• Weekend work required every third weekend
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• On-call required for 24-32 hours per rotating 8-week schedule
• Position involves advanced cardiac care, including use of devices such as ECMO and IABP
• Dialysis and perfusionist support available on-site as clinically indicated
• Requires active management of complex post-surgical cardiac patients and those with hemodynamic instability
• Staff may provide care to both initial post-op cases and cardiac surgery readmissions
• Local travelers are accepted

• Active MD or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and CPI
• OCN and TCNN certifications preferred
• Experience caring for cardiovascular and post-op cardiac surgical patients required
• First-time travelers with qualifying CVICU experience are considered
