Position: Unit 52 (Medicine/Telemetry/Stroke) Registered Nurse 2, 7:00AM-7:30PM

Job Overview

Under general supervision, provides direct patient care to assigned patients.

Education & Licensure

Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing.

Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.

Healthcare Provider CPR biennial. Additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) for specialty care areas are required upon hire.

Experience & Qualifications

One-year Registered Nurse experience required.

  • Proficiency in developing nursing plan of care, implementing effective nursing care, and evaluating outcome of nursing intervention.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Effective use of computer programs.
  • Demonstrates skill in patient experience and service recovery.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Utilization of Nursing Process
    • Assessment
      • Compiles database and formulates nursing diagnosis.
      • Utilizes physical assessment and interviewing techniques.
      • Anticipates need for intervention by other disciplines.
      • Determines priorities for patient care needs or problems.
      • Reassesses the patient as indicated by changes in condition and/or response to treatment(s).
    • Planning
      • Initiates and updates a written nursing plan of care.
      • Incorporates information from nursing care planning conferences.
      • Coordinates patient, family, significant other, and health team members in planning of hospital and post‑discharge care.
    • Implementation
      • Performs clinical nursing skills independently.
      • Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments appropriately and accurately.
      • Initiates appropriate emergency procedures as necessary.
      • Appropriately delegates and coordinates ancillary personnel duties.
      • Communicates status and plan of care through written documentation.
      • Verbal communication of patient status to physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals.
      • Therapeutic communication with patient, family, and visitors.
      • Applies teaching/learning principles in education of patient and family.
    • Patient Care Coordination
      • Manages daily patient assignment with appropriate priorities.
      • Delegates responsibilities and monitors care delivered by ancillary personnel.
      • Coordinates patient activities with other disciplines.
    • Teaching and Quality Improvement
      • Develops, documents and implements Patient Teaching and Discharge Planning Record.
      • Participates in education programs for patient, family, staff and/or students.
      • Participates in clinical monitoring at the unit level.
      • Identifies unit, staff, and patient care problems; takes action or refers to resources as needed.
    • Professional Excellence Model
      • Participates in RN activities (except as facilitator for the Nurse Residency Program).
      • May serve as charge RN when competent, monitoring productivity and patient flow.
      • May precept new staff when competent.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $32.18 – $49.46, final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
