Education
Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required.
ExperienceTwo years Registered Nurse experience required in the specific specialty area or LPN experience at GBMC with director approval.
Licensure & Certifications- Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification from an affiliated American Heart Association training site.
- Additional Certifications (i.e. ALS, PALS, NRP) are required upon hire for specialty areas.
- Proficiency in developing nursing plan of care, implementing effective nursing care, and evaluating outcome of nursing intervention.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective planning and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Effective skills in use of computer programs.
- Demonstrates skill in patient experience and service recovery.
- Assessment: Compiles database and formulates nursing diagnosis, utilizes physical assessment and interviewing techniques, anticipates intervention needs, determines priorities for patient care, and reassesses patients as needed.
- Planning: Initiates and updates a written nursing plan of care incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles, incorporates information from care‑planning conferences, and coordinates patient, family, significant others, and health team members in hospital and post‑discharge planning.
- Implementation: Performs clinical nursing skills independently; administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments accurately; initiates emergency procedures when necessary; delegates and coordinates ancillary personnel; documents patient status and care plan; communicates verbally with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals; maintains therapeutic communication with patients, families, and visitors; applies teaching/learning principles in patient and family education.
- Patient Care Coordination: Manages daily patient assignment by setting priorities; delegates responsibilities and monitors nursing care delivered by ancillary personnel; coordinates patient activities with other disciplines.
- Ability to stand and walk almost constantly up to 90% of work time and lift/position patients up to 50% of work time.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail, even in stressful situations.
- Normal patient care environment with possible exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
- Exposure to adverse conditions due to patient care activities and communicable diseases.
Maintain current licensure and certifications.
Pay Range$32.18 - $49.46
