Position: NICU Registered Nurse 2 - Supplemental Tier B Day/Night Rotator

Overview

Under general supervision, provide direct patient care to assigned patients.

Education & Experience
  • Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Two years Registered Nurse experience required in the specific specialty area or LPN experience at GBMC with director approval.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification from an affiliated American Heart Association training site.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., ALS, PALS, NRP) required upon hire for specialty areas.
Skills
  • Proficiency in developing nursing plans of care, implementing care, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in computer programs.
  • Skill in patient experience and service recovery.
Responsibilities
  • Utilize the Nursing Process:
    • A. Assessment:
      • Compile databases and formulate nursing diagnoses.
      • Utilize physical assessment and interviewing techniques.
      • Anticipate need for intervention by other disciplines.
      • Determine priorities for patient care needs or problems.
      • Reassess patients as indicated by changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
    • B. Planning:
      • Initiate and update written nursing plans of care incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles.
      • Incorporate information from nursing care planning conferences.
      • Coordinate patient, family, significant other, and health team members in planning hospital and post‑discharge care.
    • C. Implementation:
      • Perform clinical nursing skills independently.
      • Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments accurately.
      • Initiate appropriate emergency procedures as necessary.
      • Appropriately delegate and coordinate duties of ancillary personnel.
      • Document patient status and plan of care in the medical record.
      • Communicate patient status verbally to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
      • Communicate therapeutically with patients, families, and visitors.
      • Apply teaching/learning principles in education of patient and family.
    • D. Patient Care Coordination:
      • Manage daily patient assignment by setting priorities.
      • Delegate responsibilities and monitor nursing care delivered by ancillary personnel.
      • Coordinate patient activities with other disciplines.
Physical & Working Conditions
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 90% of work time; lift and position patients up to 50% of work time.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail in stressful situations.
  • Work in a normal patient care environment with possible exposure to noise, dust, temperature variations, and communicable diseases.
Conditions of Employment
  • Maintain current licensure and certifications.
Pay Range

$32.18 - $49.46 per hour, based on qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with organizational needs.
