Job Overview
A divisional-based, non‑benefited role designed to improve flexibility in staffing; must work in multiple areas within an area of expertise and provide 60 hours availability in a 4‑week schedule with decreased holiday and weekend commitment; no on‑call requirement; under general supervision, provides direct patient care to assigned patients.
Education & Experience- Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
- At least two years’ experience in nursing procedural areas (e.g., perioperative, IR, cath lab, endoscopy, WOSC) or LPN experience at GBMC with director approval.
- Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification from an affiliated American Heart Association training site.
- Additional certifications (ALS, PALS, NRP) required upon hire for specialty areas.
- Proficiency in developing nursing plans of care, implementing effective care, and evaluating outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective planning and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Effective use of computer programs.
- Demonstrates skill in patient experience and service recovery.
The RN performs the following nursing process duties:
- Assessment
:
Compiles database and formulates nursing diagnosis; utilizes physical assessment and interviewing techniques; anticipates need for intervention by other disciplines; determines priorities; reassesses patient as needed. - Planning
:
Initiates and updates a written nursing plan of care incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles, and informs the planning of hospital and post‑discharge care. - Implementation
:
Performs clinical nursing skills independently; administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments accurately; initiates emergency procedures when necessary; delegates and coordinates ancillary duties; documents patient status; communicates therapeutically with patient, family, and staff. - Patient Care Coordination
:
Manages daily patient assignment; delegates responsibilities; monitors nursing care delivered by ancillary personnel; coordinates patient activities with other disciplines. - Teaching and Quality Improvement
:
Develops, documents, and implements patient teaching and discharge planning record; participates in education program; monitors unit-level performance; identifies problems and takes action or refers to resources. - Professional Excellence Model
:
May participate in RN3 activities; if competent, serve as charge RN; if competent, precept new staff.
- Ability to stand and walk almost constantly up to 90% of work time; lift and position patients up to 50% of work time.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail in stressful situations.
- Normal patient care environment with possible exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature variations.
- Exposure to communicable diseases.
Maintain current licensure and certifications.
Pay Range$32.18 – $49.46 per hour. Final salary offer will be based on qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with organizational needs.
