Travel Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Baltimore, MD
Shift: Nights, 3x12s (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: September 24, 2026
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours/Week
We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment working on an Adult Co-Occurring Unit. The ideal candidate will have experience caring for patients with mental health and substance use disorders in an inpatient psychiatric setting and be comfortable working in a high-acuity environment.
Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Conduct psychiatric assessments, intake screenings, evaluations, and triage
- Administer and monitor psychotropic medications and treatment regimens
- Monitor patients for physiological and psychosocial changes
- Perform crisis intervention and stabilization as needed
- Support recovery-focused care and psychiatric rehabilitation
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and self-care strategies
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients
- Assist with case management and discharge planning
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of suicide prevention and behavioral health resources
- Float to other behavioral health units and age populations as needed
- Serve as Charge RN when required
- Active RN license (permanent license required)
- Minimum of 2 years of Behavioral Health/Psychiatric RN experience
- First-time travelers accepted
- BLS Certification required
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work with patients experiencing acute mental health and substance use disorders
- Experience with psychiatric crisis management preferred
- Sunrise (Allscripts) EMR experience preferred
- Night Shift: 3x12s (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirement
- Floating required based on unit needs
- Travelers may float to Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations
- Charge responsibilities may be required without additional differential
- Free parking available
- Navy blue scrubs
- RTO must be submitted with initial application (maximum 7 days per contract)
- Fingerprinting required prior to start
- Candidates must be comfortable working in a high-acuity psychiatric setting
- Strict compliance and onboarding requirements apply
