Description

As a Nurse Coordinator you will be stationed at the Towson hospital campus working Day and Evening shifts 7a.m.

-7p.m., 36 hours weekly with rotating weekends.

This position supports two units -

Adult Co-Occurring Disorders Unit

The Co-Occurring Disorders Unit is a safe and welcoming inpatient unit that is specially designed for the treatment of adults ages 18 to 65 who are experiencing more than one mental health condition. The individuals could be experiencing multiple psychiatric issues, which may include a substance use disorder. Many are experiencing recurring problems, triggered by stressful situations, life problems, and more.

No matter how individuals come into our care, we help individuals safely get through this period of crisis and begin (or continue) their journey towards recovery. We are a short term psychiatric inpatient unit; we are not a rehabilitationfacility, butare a starting pointin the process of recovery.

Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit

The Crisis Stabilization Unit  at Sheppard Pratt’s Towson campus is a safe and welcoming 22-bed inpatient unit that is specially designed for the treatment of adults with a mental illness. Individualsgenerally cometo our unit for care after experiencing suicidal ideation, a suicide attempt, severe anxiety, orgenerally unsafebehavior. In general, we treat individuals who are experiencing one or more of the following disorders: major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder,a personalitydisorder,a dissociativedisorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

As a Staff Nurse you will:

  • Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
  • Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician.
  • Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
  • Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
  • Document and report patient progress to treatment team.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
  • Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing-acquired through at least one year of inpatient RN experience; prior LPN inpatient experience will be considered with every one year of LPN experience equating to 6 months RN experience

All new clinical staff will begin their extended clinical orientation/training immediately following your first day of employment.

What we need from you.

  • Must hold current registered nurse (RN) licensure to practice in Maryland at the time of appointment and maintain licensure throughout the duration of employment.
  • Candidates residing in a compact state may apply with a multistate license and must obtain a Maryland RN license within 60 days of relocation.
  • Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting is preferred, but not necessary.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
