Schedule:
35 hours per week.
A vacancy exists in the Bureau of Clinical Services, Department of Health and Human Services.
Current and future vacancies occurring in any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants.
Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, and provides professional nursing consultation services to non-public schools in the delivery of school health programs.
- Oversees the delivery of health programs in non-public schools and assists staff in the promotion of a safe and orderly school environment.
- Evaluates plans for the administration of first aid for injury and illness.
- Advises and assesses the coordination of health care interventions, including emergency responses.
- Reviews plans for the administration of medications and health care treatments and assures compliance with state medication administration regulations.
- Identifies health barriers to student achievement and works with schools to help families and staff remediate issues.
- Assists in developing plans for students with chronic health conditions.
- Assists school staff in assessing the health needs of the community.
- Advises school staff on the coordination of health matters between the health care provider, family, and school.
- Assesses compliance with state immunization requirements and pre-school enrollment screenings.
- Consults on the conduction, coordination, and follow-up of health screening programs, including hearing, vision, and scoliosis screenings.
- Provides other related duties as required.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate in arts degree or a bachelor's degree in nursing, plus graduation from a nurse practitioner program approved by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses
Gradation from an accredited diploma school of nursing, plus graduation from a nurse practitioner program approved by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses.
Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred
Licenses and CertificatesPossession of a valid license to practice as a professional registered nurse, issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses, is required at the time of appointment. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses is required at the time of appointment.
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment. All licenses and certifications must be maintained at current levels throughout employment.
EXAMINATION PROCEDUREApplicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questionnaire. Be sure to state the dates, duties and responsibilities of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation.
Physical and Environmental ConditionsThe work of this classification may include the performance of physical activities such as walking, standing, and lifting, the operation of medical equipment and instruments, and travel throughout the county. Duties may expose incumbents to various bio-medical hazards.
Medical Examination and Employment Background InvestigationApplicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination and drug screen and an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.
