ROLE of the POSITIONThe Postdoctoral Scholar in Neuroimaging will report to Ayan Sengupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Health Physics and Diagnostic Sciences within the School of Integrated Health Sciences . Sengupta is the Associate Director of the UNLV MR Imaging Core (UMIC), the only public brain imaging research facility in Southern Nevada. This specialized imaging core significantly expands UNLV’s research capacity, enabling investigators to explore the complexities of the brain, translate scientific discoveries into real‑world applications, and pursue solutions that enhance brain health and quality of life.
The newly established UMIC facility further exemplifies UNLV’s mission as a Carnegie R1 institution, supporting high‑impact, interdisciplinary research and creative activity.
- Conducting scientific research and development work in MRI projects. The candidate will be performing research in line with the PI’s research program.
- The scholar will also be encouraged to propose research that is interesting to them and demonstrate a certain level of independence in research endeavors.
- The postdoctoral scholar will also be one of the mentors to incoming graduate and undergraduate students in the group.
- The primary responsibility will be writing manuscripts, collecting and analyzing data, helping with grant proposal writing, and related tasks.
- Further development and practical implementation of innovative MRI acquisition and data analysis methods.
- Providing scientific and methodological support and consultation in the implementation of neuroscientific studies and the scientific processing and analysis of research data, as well as providing technical and methodological support to users and research groups at the UMIC in resolving methodological and technical issues.
- Developing and implementing suitable procedures for scientific data management on the High‑Performance Computational Cluster.
- Participating in academic teaching and academic self‑governance. The postdoctoral scholar will receive mentorship from the PI and the PI’s network in research, grant writing, manuscript preparation, research methodology, etc. There is a potential opportunity to initiate and conduct independent research projects in alignment with the PI’s research group at the UMIC.
- Running cutting‑edge reproducible Neuroimaging Pipelines.
The Postdoctoral Scholar’s research activities will involve the application of the following technologies and methodologies:
