Pay and Hours

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $23.50 - $25.50. The full pay range per hour is $23.50 - $39.95. Pay is based on factors such as labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

About the Role

General Merchandise Team Leader in Target's General Merchandise department. The role focuses on guest experience, inventory management, team leadership, safety, compliance, and fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan department(s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and sales goals.
  • Lead, interview, coach, evaluate, and retain hourly team members.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of guest experience commitments and operations.
  • Review guest, financial, and team metrics to identify opportunities and drive improvements.
  • Execute daily/weekly tasks: receiving, merchandising, signing, setting displays, restocking, and pricing.
  • Educate team on inventory management, product accuracy, and store profitability.
  • Assume fulfillment responsibilities (pick, pack, ship) and report on gaps.
  • Support guest services such as backup cashier and digital fulfillment.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity, ethical conduct, safety practices, and security processes.
  • Assist with emergency and compliance needs; occasionally assume store‑level leadership on duty.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Previous retail experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and accountability skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
  • Capability to lift up to 44 pounds safely.
  • Reliable and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable with technology such as handheld scanners and devices.
