Parking and Transportation Services is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient use of the parking resources and the safe transport of community members who utilize the campus shuttle and charter services. The Parking Enforcement Associate is a position with high visibility on campus and is responsible for patrolling the campus to enforce parking regulations and assisting with various campus events.
May also serve as a back‑up for Paratransit Services upon meeting qualifications. This position is classified as essential personnel.
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of assigned territories to perform duties related to the issuance of parking citations using several types of computerized equipment.
- Provide customer assistance to members of the campus community and visitors about parking and transportation services.
- Monitor parking lots and direct guests to appropriate parking areas for various events held across campus.
- Complete basic maintenance tasks associated with the parking and transportation program to include sign installation and removal, painting, basic system and equipment preventative maintenance, and setting up and breaking down parking control devices.
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of applicable experience.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and interpret parking regulations and procedures; ability to learn and utilize several different computerized systems; and ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
- Ability to serve as an ambassador for the University and adapt to changing situations while handling difficult customers and maintaining excellent customer service skills.
- Valid Maryland non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent with no more than five points; must fulfill the requirements to operate a Maryland State Vehicle.
- Additional related experience and formal education may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year‑for‑year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
- Criminal background investigation required; results may impact employment.
$20.51 per hour. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
