Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Purpose and Scope:
Conducts periodic maintenance operations, reconstitution, storage and deployment of cryogenic assets in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and applicable USAF requirements. Follows procedures to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
Essential Responsibilities:
Complies with all company standard operating procedures, work instructions, USAF Technical Orders, industrial safety and environmental policies.
Perform periodic maintenance, reconstitution, and storage of cryogenic assets (like LOX and LIN tanks) in accordance with USAF Technical Orders
Inspects/evaluates cryogenic assets and installed components.
Identifies necessary replacement parts and part numbers.
Identify malfunctions and perform repairs on cryotainers, transfer tubes, and valves to ensure equipment remains mission-ready
Cleans/inspects and repairs cryogenic assets and components.
Troubleshoots cryogenic asset malfunctions and takes necessary maintenance actions.
Participates in equipment maintenance, shop safety, and other related training.
Ensures calibration of cryogenic gauges and hydrostatic testing of liquid samplers.
Ensures corrosion control is performed as required, to include sanding defected areas, cleaning and priming surfaces, painting and application of preservation materials.
Prepares cryogenic assets for deployment according to established procedures.
Prepares and documents time sheets, work orders and maintenance records.
Cleans inside and outside work areas.
Operates Material Handling equipment when required.
Inventories hazardous material (HAZMAT) within the assigned work center and coordinates with the appropriate office for the proper disposal of HAZMAT when required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
Satisfactory completion of formal training for mechanical maintenance of cryogenics equipment.
1 to 3 years’ experience in the field of cryogenics, ground support equipment maintenance or equivalent.
Must have a level 3 understanding of written and spoken English and ability to comprehend all required publications.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to qualify and operate vehicles related to this position and the Material handing equipment (pallet jacks, 4K/10K forklifts).
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust U.S. Government Clearance.
NOTE:
U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.Contract requirements in accordance with Appendix J:
Complete Cryotainer Maintenance Course (05AA) and awarded SEI 036.
Ensures qualified personnel (AFSC 2F0X1), US Civil Service, US contract employees, host national military and/or civilian, or sister service equivalent(s) are permitted to perform cryogenic operations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documenting maintenance records and work orders.
Capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling at least 50 lbs and operating material handling equipment
Ability to work in DPAS (for accountability) and Maximo (for maintenance/work orders).
Must be authorized to work in host country.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel;
and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
