Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site Cable Technician role is based in the Washington DC-Baltimore area and involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting security-related cabling systems. The Cable Technician will route and terminate cables, support structured cabling installations, and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards. Daily tasks include using hand tools and test equipment, reading basic diagrams or work orders, and collaborating with team members to complete projects on schedule.
The role may also involve interacting with clients on-site to clarify requirements, document work performed, and ensure a clean, organized installation environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency working with cables and cabling in commercial or industrial environments.
- Experience with structured cabling systems and familiarity with cable routing, termination, and labeling.
- Basic knowledge of electricity and safe electrical practices relevant to low-voltage installations.
- Ability to use common hand tools safely and effectively for installation and repair work.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to follow technical instructions or site plans.
- Reliable transportation to job sites within the Washington DC-Baltimore metro area.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, work on ladders, and perform tasks in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Prior experience in security systems or low-voltage cabling is preferred; relevant certifications or vocational training are a plus.
