Job Summary
The role is a Non‑Merit position within the Clinical Services/Women, Infants & Children (WIC) department. A part‑time schedule of 34 hours per week. The position offers outreach services to women of reproductive age, newly pregnant women, and women who have recently delivered, focusing on smoking cessation, obesity interventions, prenatal care information, and family planning services.
Essential Duties- Meet with and present to individuals, organizations, and community groups to explain and promote the program.
- Represent the program at health fairs, community events, classes, seminars, and other gatherings.
- Assist with displays, assemble and distribute literature, brochures, and pamphlets related to program information and breastfeeding promotion.
- Promote and support breastfeeding among postpartum women by making telephone calls.
- Develop and maintain resource lists.
- Answer telephone inquiries regarding the program and breastfeeding support to participants.
- Assist clients with program applications.
- Collect, tabulate, update, and maintain program records and statistics related to breastfeeding by program participants.
- Assemble periodic statistical reports.
- Perform other related duties as required.
The work is generally sedentary, involves some traveling throughout the county, and requires lifting and carrying during the setup of educational displays and presentations.
Medical Examination and Employment Background InvestigationApplicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening, and employment investigation, including background, education certification and fingerprint checks.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of clerical experience which includes public interaction (additional education may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis up to a maximum of two years).
- Ability to speak Spanish fluently.
Possession of a valid driver’s license (non‑commercial, class C Maryland).
Examination ProcedureApplicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, including dates and duties of past and present experience, and must complete a language proficiency assessment test if selected.
Assessment TestApplicants selected for an appointment must successfully complete a language proficiency assessment test.
