The Software Application Tester’s role is to support the testing for in-house product development, software application development, information system launches, and operations systems enhancements. This individual will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate, verify, communicate, and resolve systems/software application issues through careful testing to maximize the benefit of IT investments and initiatives.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the ownership, management, and execution of software application testing environment using Agile SCRUM software development methodology.
- Responsible for all verification and validation of software by identifying and reporting issues during sprint cycles and before production deployment (pre-production environment) with issue tracking software.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining SQL queries to support data validation acceptance and to monitor data trends in the production database after software releases as needed.
- Responsible for creating, maintaining and executing standard sets of test scenarios for enterprise software release (across all testing environments)
- Assures the reliability and consistency of production ready software by continually evaluating release output and performance.
- Stays current on Agile Software Practices and tools to aid teams in supporting software quality in the agile software development methodology.
- Creates new procedures to monitor, inspect and report on software quality issues including system reviews and error reporting.
- Partners with Internal Users, Sprint Management, and Development teams to identify solutions as needed.
- Initiate and engage in testing activities that will allow applications to meet business requirements, systems goals, and fulfill end-user requirements.
- Create and execute test plans, scripts, cases, and scenarios that will determine optimal system performance according to specifications.
- Conduct all types of application testing as needed, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods.
- Analyze formal test results to discover and resolve defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
- Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.
- Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
- Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
- Create and/or Update Jira points as needed to support problem documentation or testing support documentation as required.
- Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
- Liaise with company’s software and hardware suppliers for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.
- Investigate technical escalations from the production environment and analyze product workflow and SQL data to identify and log software bugs.
- Work with end users to clarify and data or application operational procedures needed to support creating a quality approach to writing and executing a test plan to validate software changes.
- Take an active role in cross-departmental projects when needed.
- Participates after hours, as needed in testing code releases into production.
- Four-year college diploma or university degree in software engineering or computer science, and/or three years equivalent work experience with business applications in use by organization.
- Direct experience as a tester for major application integration and/or major application product release.
- Extensive experience with core software applications in use by organization.
- Direct hands-on experience with SQL Management studio and Advanced SQL data query reporting.
- Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
