Responsibilities and Duties
The Assistant Football Coach will organize, conduct, and supervise all aspects of the given position for the football program to include the following: skill instruction, practices, competition preparation, competition day coaching, and participation within designated conference and NCAA meetings.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Recruiting and evaluating prospective student‑athletes through the use of New Media Technologies
- Organizing official visits, including assigning hosts, creating travel itineraries, and managing all budgetary elements of visits while adhering to all NCAA regulations
- Tracking all admissions through the application process of our prospective student‑athletes
- Providing instruction to student‑athlete hosts on department/NCAA policies & procedures for a visit
- Assisting with academic support, fundraising activities, and community servicing, including communication and outreach to alumni
- Adhering to NCAA rules
- Completing recruiting logs and other end‑of‑year summaries and correspondence within and in coordination with the Compliance Office
- Performing other administrative duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach
This position will need to be available during evenings and weekends. Travel is required.
Qualifications And SkillsBachelor’s degree and two years of coaching experience at the college, high school, professional, club/clinic level, or graduate assistant level.
- Ability to train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level
- Ability to accept and carry out assigned programs and responsibilities
- Ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
- Ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an Athletics Department and university
- Effective communication while working well with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community
- Must demonstrate a commitment to high academic standards for student‑athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically
- A demonstrated commitment to building a positive team culture, and commitment to the personal and professional development of student‑athletes
