Job Summary
Lead Wind Technician ideally with Vestas V-47 experience (but not a must have) for a wind site located in Tracy, CA. This is an immediate opening joining a rapidly growing team to help lead the wind techs onsite looking for a leader who takes pride in ownership!
Compensation$45-$60/hr + Full Benefits + Relocation Assistance (if needed)
Scope of Responsibilities- Lead Wind Technician will be responsible for onsite operations, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of equipment; lead corrective campaigns; mentor field crews; and ensure safety and technical excellence in turbine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Assist with the development of new and existing processes and procedures for maintenance, quality and safety.
- Assist with the identification and procurement of tooling, consumables, and spare parts inventory.
- Supervisory responsibilities for a crew(s) during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, assigning, planning, and coordinating tasks with technicians or contractors.
- Perform mechanical and electrical component repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions following all manufacturers’ requirements; strategize open work items (punch lists) to maintain or increase availability.
- Plan, schedule, assign, and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM maintenance manuals.
- Provide technical advice to teams to aid in maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.
- Mentor and supervise junior and mid-level technicians.
- Read/interpret and understand schematics, diagrams and procedures to troubleshoot complicated mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems associated with GE wind turbines.
- Use and enforce all mandated safety rules and equipment; comply with all safety procedures, Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out and environmental requirements in accordance with customers and all applicable government regulations.
- Complete all necessary reporting and paperwork for assigned projects and tasks, including but not limited to CMMS, DSPTCH, visit logs, and monthly/daily reports.
- Communicate issues and solutions to leadership and customer.
- Document all service activity and parts consumptions using digital reporting systems (CMMS).
- Adhere to any contractual requirements, rules, regulations, local laws, and NERC requirements.
- Participate and respond in a 24/7/365 on‑call rotation schedule.
- 1+ years of experience as a Lead Wind Tech or 2+ years as a Wind Tech III.
- Strong leadership, communication, and technical skills.
- Administrative ability and computer knowledge.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor environments.
- Ability to work on‑call for site coverage.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel from time to time for training or to assist on other projects.
