Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, or possession of an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certificate and 0 to 2 years’ experience.
AssistantEquivalent to graduation with a B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field and 3‑5 years of professional level civil engineering experience, or a Master’s degree substituting for required experience. Alternatively, an E.I.T. certificate with 3‑5 years of professional level experience.
AssociateValid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer and a B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field, plus 5+ years of professional experience, including two years as project or resident engineer.
SeniorValid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field, plus 10+ years of professional experience, including five years as project or resident engineer on construction projects. A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of project experience.

Job OverviewUnder general direction of the Civil Engineering Manager, the Civil Engineer series performs a wide variety of technical field and office engineering work associated with the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority activities and facilities. Roles include managing and performing project design, project management, and construction management of capital improvement projects; leading project groups; selecting and managing consultants; reviewing projects for compliance;
performing system modeling; and related duties.
- Develop cost estimates, designs, and technical specifications.
- Prepare requests for proposals and contract documents.
- Provide project inspection, coordination, & contract administration.
- Prepare environmental assessments and feasibility studies.
- Develop and implement policies for compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Participate in program development and model creation.
- Produce comprehensive reports and correspondence related to projects.
- Review drawings and prepare recommendations.
- Meet with developers and consultants to discuss project concepts.
- Participate in authority 10‑Year Extraordinary O&M and Capital Improvement Programs.
