This position has been designated as an Essential Position (e.g., snow emergency days, holidays, increased security periods, national emergency). The position cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission. Assignments may be performed at any job site within the organization.

• As a Police Officer (Instructor) you will be responsible for the following duties:
• Manages the activities of various officers performing the Field Training Officer (FTO) functions in DLA Installation Management.
• Manages the Field Training Officers (FTOs) as they provide routine, repetitive required course material to augment formal required training, and provide standard orientation for new police officers.
• Assess training needs for FTOs and develops in-house training programs to augment formal training received.
• Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow and assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload.
• Patrols DLA installation and property to prevent crime, protect life and property, and enforce local regulations and laws.
• Orders, issues, and maintains accountability of police equipment to assigned personnel.

  Richmond, VA;

• Investigation of Fitness: A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment.
• Training Requirements:
  Individual must attend and successfully complete within one-year of employment the basic police officer training course at the Federal Law enforcement Training Center or Department of the Army Civilian Policy Academy.
• Firearm Requirements:
  The incumbent must quality initially and on an annual basis with their assigned weapon to maintain employment. Employees will be given three opportunities to quality to maintain employment.

  Before hiring the incumbent must successfully complete a battery of physical and psychological testing.
• Physical Fitness Requirements:
  Individuals must pass an initial and annual physical fitness test in order to maintain employment.
