Tracy Maintenance Control Technician - 2nd Shift

Pay Rate: $46.05 an Hour

The Instrument Technician (Controls) is responsible for installing, disassembling, repairing, and maintaining equipment. The Instrument Technician also safely repairs and troubleshoots malfunctioning mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems, calibrates instruments, maintains 5S standards in work areas and tool boxes, and performs mechanical, preventive, and predictive maintenance. This position is an active member of the hazmat response team.

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role; associate’s or 2‑year degree in a maintenance‑related field is preferred.
• Experience with stainless steel welding and fabrication.
• Mechanical repairs (including rebuilding of gearboxes and process equipment).
• PLC troubleshooting experience; experience with AC frequency drives and instrumentation.
• Basic knowledge of utility equipment and operations (e.g., boiler and refrigeration equipment).
• Dairy/food manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of government and industrial regulations (e.g., PSM, OSHA, USDA).
• Computer proficiency in email, internet, Microsoft Office software, and computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP).

• Prior experience in a similar role with an electrical background; experience with pneumatics, electrical controls, and schematic reading.
• Must be able to understand/adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Must be able to communicate effectively with others, complete required documentation in written and electronic form, and troubleshoot systems.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions; wear required personal protective equipment; comply with all applicable safety practices.
• Maintain a clean work area; complete written reports; perform basic and intermediate mathematical calculations; enter data into and pull data from computer systems.
• Must possess considerable problem‑solving ability when supervision is not readily available for consultation.
• Must communicate effectively with machine operators, production supervisors, outside contractors, and plant maintenance personnel. Good communication with co‑workers and oncoming/outgoing shifts is also expected. Must be willing to work any shift.
