About the role

The Shift Supervisor is an operational leader responsible for daily distribution center activities of the assigned distribution and shift. This role ensures associates are properly staffed, trained, and supported to meet safety, quality, productivity, and customer service expectations. The Shift Supervisor reports into the Site Manager, is responsible for shift workflow management, productivity and workplace safety. This position also functions as back‑up to the Site Manager as needed.

What you’ll be doing Shift & Workflow Management
  • Review and prepare shift work assignment documentation, review staffing, and ensure operational readiness.
  • Responsible for overall shift workforce planning. Assign duties tasks per shift, adjust staffing, pace, and workflow as needed to maintain balanced operations.
  • Manage established production output and KPI metrics to ensure shift goals are achieved.
  • Verify availability of inbound/outbound schedules, work instructions, and required materials.
  • Minimize non‑billable idle time and unnecessary overtime.
  • Ensure all completed products are properly staged and ready for next process steps.
Associate Leadership & Engagement
  • Set a positive example and maintain a strong on‑floor presence throughout the shift.
  • Communicate expectations clearly and proactively with associates.
  • Recognize and reinforce positive performance and effort.
  • Responsible for onboarding, job training, and cross‑training initiatives.
  • Address issues promptly and escalate to the Site Manager and/or the HR Hub as needed.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and morale within the shift.
Quality & Productivity
  • Monitor quality and accuracy of work using established in‑process checks.
  • Ensure rework, errors, and discrepancies are corrected promptly and documented appropriately.
  • Reinforce adherence to approved work methods and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify bottlenecks or constraints and recommend solutions.
Safety, Security & Housekeeping
  • Enforce compliance with all OSHA, safety, ergonomic, and site operational safety standards.
  • Ensure associates use required PPE and follow safe material‑handling practices.
  • Report and document accidents, incidents, and near‑misses immediately.
  • Responsible for safety training, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard‑free work areas at all times.
  • Ensure exits, equipment guards, and safety devices are never blocked or bypassed.
Communication & Reporting
  • Communicate shift status, issues, and performance updates to the Operational Supervisor.
  • Complete timekeeping, production, and required reports accurately and on time.
  • Escalate concerns related to staffing, quality, safety, or service impacts in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and Lean initiatives at the shift level.
About you Education (including certification/licensure requirement)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a distribution, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
  • Prior lead, team lead, or informal supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
  • Strong working knowledge of distribution center operations and material handling
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast‑paced environment
  • Understanding of safety practices, OSHA requirements, and ergonomic guidelines
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Word
  • Forklift experience preferred (or ability to become certified)
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for full shift duration
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills a plus
Compensation

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $70,304 - $70,304. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, key skills, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the position is also eligible for incentive compensation based on achievements outlined in the compensation plan.
