Overview of Responsibilities

As the Assistant Deli Manager, you will help customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service, managing, and leading one of the busiest teams in our store.

  • Assist the Deli Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
  • Order and control inventory, ensure product quality, and supervise the Deli team.
  • Coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
  • Lead a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product and the highest level of service.
  • Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Deli team.
  • Unload and sort through store deliveries, operate, and maintain deli equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations, and verify that other team members are also aware of and following these procedures.
  • Work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years old with at least 2 years of supervisory experience and strong knowledge of deli or related food service.
  • Dependable and reliable, able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to give and receive direction in a team environment.
  • Outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude, able to interact with customers, take special orders, and answer phones.
  • Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff, and knowledge of personnel, margin, and sales reporting.
  • Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Food Safety certification and knowledge of federal, state, and company regulations for product freshness, safety, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety, refrigeration, and sanitation.
  • Strong organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Able to lift/carry product horizontally or vertically up to 70 lbs., from 4” to 60”, for a distance up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours.
  • Must be able to stand continuously for 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
  • Operate slicer, wrapping, and cooking equipment; maintain all equipment in safe working condition.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Pay Range

The pay range for this position is $19.50 – $29.15 per hour, determined by applicable experience and qualifications.
