Job Description
We are looking for an Electric Utility Distribution Electrician/Lineman to work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Site 300 in Tracy, California. The position involves maintenance, operations, installation, repair, replacement, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of medium‑ and high‑voltage electric utility systems and equipment. Full‑time on‑site presence is required.
Responsibilities- Perform journey‑level electrical work.
- Maintain, switch, install, repair, replace, test, troubleshoot, and commission overhead pole lines, transformers, switches, and other equipment for 15kV and 115kV distribution.
- Collaborate with other craft personnel and provide technical guidance.
- Deliver effective and timely customer service to clients and team members.
- Prepare and submit reports, preventative‑maintenance requests, deficiency reports, and work orders using a personal computer.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Hold U.S. citizenship and the ability to secure and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrician trade or equivalent experience.
- Basic journey‑level skills, knowledge, and abilities in the electrician trade, including proficiency with all trade tools and operation of high‑reach bucket trucks and digger‑derricks.
- Ability to maintain, operate, install, repair, replace, test, troubleshoot, and commission transformers, switches, conductors, power‑poles, and associated pole‑mounted equipment for 15kV and 115kV distribution.
- Customer service and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with technical, administrative, and management personnel.
- Basic knowledge of personal computers and associated software for logs, reports, email, computer‑based training, and timekeeping.
- Availability to work scheduled, on‑call, and emergency overtime.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license.
- Experience in substation maintenance and operations.
- Experience reading electrical diagrams, testing protective relays, and working from drawings.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code and OSHA safety regulations.
$53.01 – $64.43 per hour.
