Construction Project Manager – Traverse City, MI Salary, exempt.

Position Summary

The Project Manager is a hands‑on front‑line leader responsible for supporting customers after disaster strikes. The role involves inspecting projects, planning execution, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with required standards.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with estimator to review bids, scopes, and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules and budgets, tracking all expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Order materials and equipment in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
  • Secure all necessary permits and licenses before project commencement.
  • Recruit, vet, and hire qualified subcontractors; manage contracting, scheduling, and performance.
  • Supervise on‑site crews and enforce safety protocols.
  • Visit all open job sites at least three days a week to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards; enforce company and OSHA safety policies.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, serving as the main point of contact for questions, concerns, and change orders.
  • Document all project activities, decisions, and communications; provide weekly progress reports and senior‑management updates.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure work meets company standards and client specifications.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of management experience or experience in the disaster restoration industry.
  • 3+ years of construction experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to lead diverse teams.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and protocols.
Work Environment

This role is a combination in‑field/office position requiring frequent travel to job sites. Sites may contain hazardous materials such as asbestos, mold, or lead; PPE will be provided. Work may occur in varying weather conditions and involve heavy manual labor, standing, walking, and carrying.
