Position Title: Youth Activities Director
Reports to: Senior Program Director
Department: Youth Activities
Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Compensation: $50,000-$58,000/year
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Youth Activities Director is responsible for the growth, development, and overall success of all youth programming. This includes, but is not limited to, Summer Day Camp, Short Sports, Birthday Parties, School’s Out programming, and other non-athletic youth program offerings. This role provides both strategic and hands‑on leadership to enhance program quality, reach, and impact through innovation, community and member feedback, and collaboration with leadership staff across the organization.
Participant safety is the highest priority and is embedded in all aspects of program planning, staff supervision, and daily operations.
- Oversee all Youth Activities programming, including Summer Day Camp, Short Sports, Birthday Parties, School’s Out, and other non-athletic youth offerings.
- Develop, implement, and promote new youth programming opportunities based on community needs.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all youth program staff.
- Ensure compliance with State of Michigan camp and child‑care licensing requirements.
- Provide fiscal oversight to ensure budgets are met or exceeded.
- Evaluate program quality and participant experience.
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain clear communication with staff, participants, and families.
- Secure staff coverage to maintain safe ratios.
- Collaborate with leadership staff across departments.
- Partner with Marketing to promote programs.
- Participate in Director‑on‑Duty rotations and leadership responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
- Minimum of two years youth program experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Camp and Child Care licensing experience preferred.
- Current certification in CPR and AED; ability to complete required trainings in Child Abuse Prevention and Blood‑Borne Pathogens.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
