A mathematics teacher will teach district-approved curriculum at West Middle School for the 2026/27 school year. The position requires a Math (EX) endorsement and may be K-8, 5-9, or 6-12 grade level. The teacher reports to the building principal and is responsible for all duties of a middle school teacher.
Duties and Responsibilities- Teaches district-approved curriculum.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
- Diagnoses learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Supervises classroom, students, and volunteers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary or Secondary Education required, or completion of an alternative teaching certification program.
- Highly qualified in the subject matter assigned.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an elementary or secondary (K-8, 5-9, 6-12 or 7-12 grade band) Math (EX) endorsement area. Additional endorsement areas preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in the area of application.
