Adjunct Faculty Member
This adjunct faculty member is responsible for teaching Welding Technology in the Technical Academic Area, preparing and delivering instruction to students in cooperation with other faculty, teaching Welding Technology courses. This adjunct faculty member will employ a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions and encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper class-related records, and promptly assess student coursework and apprise students of progress.
The adjunct faculty member is a member of the professional teaching staff that is responsible for effectively implementing the mission of NMC and the Technical Academic Area. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to relate well to a diverse population of learners. Responsibilities will include submitting online attendance and grade alerts, and use of the Moodle platform for courses.
This position is posted for a Fall 2026 start date of 8/10/2026.
Required:
- AWS qualified welder
- One of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Master's in Welding/Engineering field with 2 years experience
- Bachelor's in Welding/Engineering field with 2 years related experience
- Bachelor's with 3 years experience in field & 2 years related experience
- Bachelor's in Welding/Engineering field with 2 years related experience
- No degree with 5 years experience in field & 3 years teaching experience
Preferred:
- Two or more years of involvement in industry (committees, standards, advocacy, etc.)
- Bachelor's Degree in Welding or Technical Program
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Planning and Instruction:
- Prepare and deliver instruction to students.
- Effectively employ a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning.
- Stimulate class discussions and encourage active learning in all students.
- Maintain proper class-related records.
- Promptly assess student coursework and apprise students of progress.
- Demonstrate an interest in using current and emerging technologies in the classroom and/or in online teaching.
Curriculum:
- Support the academic area and College through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members.
Professional Development:
- Engage in on-going professional development activities, maintaining and expanding expertise in academic field. (College funding may be available to do so.)
Specifically, adjunct faculty members have these responsibilities:
1. Effectively teach students registered for assigned classes.
1) amplify, examine, critique, and/or apply course material to help students efficiently reach learning outcomes; and
2) identify common learning problems of students so the teaching strategies can be appropriately adjusted.
2. Effectively participate in the affairs of the College as necessary to develop and maintain a strong and vibrant instructional institution.
