About UsLegacy Aviation Learning Center is a FAA Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School dedicated to providing the highest quality education and training for future aviation maintenance professionals. Powered by adaptive learning software and virtual reality, our 48‑week accelerated curriculum combines digital tools with hands‑on learning and lecture.
Our new school is experiencing exponential growth as we prepare our fifth cohort in August 2025. We are hiring a team of instructors who blend traditional teaching with innovative digital capabilities. The role reports to the Program Director and may involve developing one or two junior instructors.
Job SummaryWe seek an experienced, highly motivated Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor to teach general, airframe, and power plant courses in accordance with FAA regulations and our accelerated curriculum. The ideal candidate will combine mechanical expertise with strong instructional skills.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans, lectures, and practical demonstrations in general, airframe, and power plant subject areas.
- Instruct and monitor students in classroom and lab/shop environments.
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to ensure mastery of course material and FAA certification requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to continually assess and improve the curriculum, ensuring it remains up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.
- Stay current on developments in aviation maintenance and safety, including new technologies, regulations, and industry trends.
- Assist with the maintenance and organization of classrooms, labs, and equipment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, including industry conferences, workshops, and training sessions.
- Represent the school at recruitment events, industry functions, and other public-facing engagements.
- Provide guidance and support to students in their career planning and job search efforts.
- FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic.
- Minimum of 5 years of recent, relevant aviation maintenance experience.
- Previous instructional or training experience in aviation maintenance (formal or informal).
- Working knowledge of FAA regulations applicable to Part 147 schools.
- Strong oral and written communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other relevant software‑as‑a‑service (SaaS) products.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Positive mental attitude and perseverance.
- Prior experience as a Lead Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Training Supervisor.
- Experience supporting FAA audits or inspections.
- Curriculum development or instructional design experience.
- Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) in a training environment.
- Experience mentoring or supervising instructors or technicians.
- Bachelor's degree.
