Job DescriptionPosition: Non-Affiliated Support Staff (NA) - School Year
Location: Long Lake Elementary
Department: Early Childhood
Schedule: School-year position; hours based on student enrollment and attendance.
Responsibilities- Provide child care support services for the Extended Day Program.
- Develop positive relationships with children, parents, staff, administration, and community members through effective written and verbal/nonverbal communication.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for students aged 3–12, indoors and outdoors.
- Perform attendance and other record-keeping as directed.
- Maintain a clean and safe facility/playground at all times.
- Address behavior management for students enrolled in the Extended Day Program.
- Maintain discipline and report behavior concerns to the Extended Day Care Program Manager.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and family records and information.
- Participate in staff development and professional development activities (up to 16 clock hours per calendar year).
- Administer children’s medication and First Aid as needed, and complete required state and district documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate (18+ years old) with prior experience working with children.
- Some Early Childhood or Child Development coursework preferred.
- Current first aid and infant/child/adult CPR training or willingness to obtain at next available offering.
- Willing to complete up to 16 clock hours of professional development training, in addition to new-hire requirements as required by MiLEAP Child Care Licensing regulations.
- Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to perform duties involving physical activity, including walking, lifting up to 40 pounds, and moving about classrooms and school property.
- Effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations.
- Ability to work with children, parents, colleagues, administrative staff, and community members.
- Ability to think critically and determine appropriate actions.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively.
Work in indoor and outdoor school environments with moderate to loud noise, varying temperatures, and exposure to allergens. Duties may involve working around students and school equipment.
Work ScheduleAvailable during the school year per the district calendar. May require irregular hours, including evenings and weekends for school events or professional development.

Salary: $18.34 per hour
