Title I Long-Term Guest Interventionist

Position Type: Part Time, School Year
Location: Hannah St. Mary's in Kingsley, Michigan
This is a long‑term guest teaching assignment. The position is part‑time, based on 0.5 hours per week for 30 weeks, and is paid hourly. It is not eligible for health insurance or other benefits.
Job DescriptionAn Elementary Title I Interventionist will work directly with Title I identified, Tier 2 students chosen by classroom teachers and/or the building principal. The goal is to use sound instructional techniques and progress monitoring to elevate student performance.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist classroom teachers and/or building principal in identifying Tier 2 students
- Model effective instructional practices and use data to inform instructional decisions
- Use technology tools to enhance instruction and student learning, and manage their use
- Assist the principal with the creation and communication of procedures for technology use, as needed
- Communicate weekly with classroom teachers regarding student progress and determine adjustments in instructional practices as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
Required
- Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor's degree in Education, with a valid Michigan teaching certificate
- Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students and school personnel
- Demonstrated use of best practices, beliefs and results for learning for all
- Previous experience working with children
- Ability to care for, supervise, and nurture children
- Strong and effective communication skills with students and adults, individually as well as in small or large groups
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to assist with maintaining records of student progress
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to resolve conflict
- Dependable, reliable, and protective of sensitive/confidential information
- Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance
- Duties include frequent walking and physical activity, use of hands and arms for signaling and light lifting/carrying, and moving about the classroom/building and school property (bending, pushing/pulling, lifting, twisting, climbing, stooping, or crouching)
- Ability to listen and effectively orally communicate information and ideas to a diverse population
- Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action(s)
- Ability to critically think and provide appropriate solutions
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently
Incumbents work in indoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. Duties may be completed in cold and hot temperatures, including work on slippery and/or uneven surfaces. The work environment includes working around students, school equipment, and office equipment.
Work SchedulesMust be available to report during the school year consistent with the district’s school year calendar.
Background ChecksThe selected individual must pass a criminal history background check.
