Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools (GTACS) is a Catholic School system serving around 1,100 students in grades Preschool-12th. GTACS provides faith-based, academically rigorous education across multiple grade levels, including St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Middle School. The school system emphasizes character formation, strong instructional practice, and a supportive learning environment. Role Description

The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Middle School Principal is a full-time, on-site leadership role located in Traverse City, MI. The principal oversees daily school operations, including instructional programs, student services, and campus safety, while fostering a positive, inclusive school culture. Responsibilities include supervising and supporting faculty and staff, guiding curriculum implementation, observing classrooms, and providing feedback to enhance teaching and learning.

The principal collaborates with families and the broader GTACS leadership team on communication, student support, and school initiatives, and leads efforts to promote faith formation, student engagement, and community involvement. This role also involves managing budgets, coordinating schedules and events, and ensuring compliance with school policies and educational standards.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Educational Leadership skills, including staff supervision, strategic planning, and school culture development.
  • Candidates should possess Curriculum Development and Middle School education experience, with the ability to design and implement effective instructional programs for grades 6-8.
  • Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with students, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Education, including classroom experience and knowledge of current instructional best practices.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred; appropriate state administrative certification or eligibility strongly beneficial.
  • Experience in a faith-based or Catholic school setting, with willingness to support the school’s mission and values, is highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, and maintaining a safe, respectful learning environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
