Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional
Summary
This position will support all aspects of the Welding Technology Program, assist program instructors in delivering instruction, maintain lab equipment, prepare practice materials, and supervise student lab activities.
Qualifications Required- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Attention to detail and good analytical skills
- Experience with all common welding processes and weld shop equipment
- Mechanical aptitude
- Welding Certification
- Some coursework in research methods and statistical analysis
- Cleaning of equipment and lab area.
- Assisting with the instruction of students in the lab with minimal guidance from the instructor
- Supporting instructors in the lab to observe safety protocols.
- Track and maintain inventory, alerting the instructor to any supply needs
- Other supportive duties as required by the instructors.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer SkillsMastery of or ability to learn software and computer skills including integration of multiple word processing programs, databases, spreadsheets, data analysis (e.g. SPSS, Snap) and presentation software

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to explosives; risk of radiation and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
