Work Schedule & LocationOffice presence is required Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (flexible to accommodate fieldwork).
Field visits are a regular part of the role; candidates must be able to travel across the service territory.
Primary candidate locations (where you should be based):
Traverse City, Boyne City, or Cadillac.
Service territory covered:
Cadillac, Traverse City, Benzonia, Boyne City, and parts of the Luddington area.
As a Project Coordinator, you will manage customer energy projects from initiation through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met. Your work will cover the broader service territory, including Cadillac, Traverse City, Benzonia, Boyne City, and parts of the Luddington area.
This role combines office planning and coordination with field visits, where you will assess project sites, verify project scopes, and ensure work is executed to standards. You will collaborate closely with internal departments, including design, scheduling, and field operations, as well as with external partners and contractors, to ensure projects are delivered efficiently. Fieldwork is an essential part of the role, with flexibility to schedule site visits around office presence (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).
Key Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and execute projects of varying sizes based on customer requests.
- Gather project scopes and ensure all tasks are well-documented, scheduled, and tracked.
- Maintain project budgets and timelines.
- Coordinate with internal departments (design, scheduling, field operations) and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Conduct field visits to assess project sites and verify project requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
- Report defects or delays and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Previous project coordination experience, ideally in electric, gas, or related utility systems.
- Candidates from adjacent industries (fiber optics, cable, staking companies, telecom, water utilities, civil infrastructure) are encouraged.
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to travel and perform fieldwork within the service territory.
- Familiarity with project management tools is a plus; company-specific systems will be provided through training.
- Utility systems (electric or gas, with more emphasis on electric).
- Field-based roles in fiber optics, cable companies, or staking companies.
- Hands-on experience with construction or energy project environments is a plus.
