Responsibilities

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during labor, delivery, and examinations
  • Provide immediate postpartum care and stabilize mother and newborn
  • Educate on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and team members
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) using evidence‑based protocols
  • Document patient care accurately in the medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
  • Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
  • Comply with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of labor and delivery nursing
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum one year recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association/ARC)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
  • STABLE and ACLS certifications (AHA/ARC)
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
  • English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Computer literacy
  • Physical ability to stand, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push/pull, bend, and remain stationary as needed
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel and maintain a positive attitude
  • Technical/motor skills for assisting with procedures and equipment use
  • Mental resilience to cope with frequent public contact, deadlines, and irregular activity schedules
  • Good visual acuity and effective communication

Job . Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
