A Day in the Life
The Pharmacy Home Infusion RN provides high-quality, patient-centred infusion therapy in the home setting. This role combines clinical expertise with compassionate care, ensuring safe administration of specialty medications while educating and empowering patients and caregivers. The RN collaborates with pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional outcomes and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Administer IV, subcutaneous, and other infusion therapies; manage peripheral and central lines.
- Assess patients, monitor for reactions, and develop individualized care plans.
- Educate patients/caregivers on medications, infusion procedures, side effects, and safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure HIPAA, OSHA, INS, and CHAP compliance.
- Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and care teams; communicate status changes.
- Follow infection control and medication safety protocols; support quality improvement and continuing education.
Graduation from a recognized school of nursing and a current Michigan RN licensure.
- A graduate nurse without experience may be hired for one specific case in Home Services on a three-month probation basis. A preceptor will be assigned to supervise the graduate nurse frequently.
- Possesses current Michigan motor vehicle license, ability to drive a car, and an insured vehicle capable of transport to patient homes or other offices.
- Meets MHH established requirements for proof of health status.
- Ability to physically move, position and transfer clients up to 200# utilizing good body mechanics, lifting techniques and/or assistive devices.
- Ability to travel to and from client's homes in own transportation under various weather conditions and patient environments.
- Expert health assessment, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Self-directed professional with ability to make independent judgments directing patient care.
- Communicates effectively in verbal and written English and has a working telephone in the home.
- CPR/BLS certification required.
One year experience in nursing preferred.
Private duty or long-term care preferred.
Schedule:Per Diem/PRN or scheduled as needed
