Description

The Maintenance Technician performs routine work related to building maintenance for all Goodwill Northern Michigan facilities.

Position Requirements:

1. Must pass pre-employment drug screen as required by DOT regulations and maintain DOT medical examiner's certificate.

2. Motor vehicle record must meet organization and DOT standards.

Essential Functions:

1. Drives company vehicles in a safe and professional manner.

2. Manipulates multiple kinds of tools.

3. Handles and climbs ladders of different sizes.

4. Enters and retrieve data from computer.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Northern Michigan.

2. Perform work in a safe manner observing all Goodwill safety policies & procedures.

3. Interact with all Goodwill team members, clients, and customers in a professional manner.

4. Respect the diversity of others including, but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, individuals experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities.

5. Works with facilities maintenance team to maintain and repair Goodwill's retail, Goodwill Inn and warehouse locations in Northern Michigan.

6. Performs routine preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting other utilities as needed.

7. Purchase supplies necessary to complete jobs.

8. Fix safety issues as directed.

9. Perform landscape duties.

10. Basic computer skills.

11. Other duties as assigned by Facilities & Maintenance Manager.

Supervises: No one

Requirements

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent. Previous maintenance experience and possession of a valid Driver's License, DOT license.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

:

1. Good working knowledge of:

• Building codes.
• Tools, materials, methods and practices used in building maintenance.
• Occupational hazards and OSHA safety standards and precautions.
• Operation of power and manual tools.
• Operation of limited light equipment.
• Basic carpentry skills.
• Paint, drywall repair.
• Basic computer skills.

2. Establish effective working relationships with employees and management team.

3. Follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted, with occasional heavy lifting, exerting 50-100 pounds of force.

2. Occasional heavy manual labor required.

3. Stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, and kneel.

4. Able to work at heights on a ladder and on scissor lift.

5. This position is considered a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to zero tolerance under the Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan Drug Free Workplace Policy.
