Job Description
This position is a Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Internal Medicine department at Intermountain Bear River Valley Hospital and Logan Regional Hospital. The role is a PRN (pro‑re‑nata) assignment requiring at least two shifts per month and is provided in a hospitalist environment, caring for both adult and pediatric inpatient patients on general medicine floors.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history and physical examinations.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians.
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions, initiating appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists—to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring informed participation in care decisions and transitions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and best‑practice standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education in critical care and internal medicine.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the hospitalist program and hospital.
- Participate in hospital committees, task forces, and meetings as required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Utah.
- Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Physician Assistant (PA‑C).
- DEA Certificate II through V.
- ACLS and BLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- Experience: Minimum two years of inpatient APP experience; hospitalist or critical care setting preferred. Experience with both pediatric and adult patients.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong clinical decision‑making and critical thinking skills; ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced, high‑acuity team; excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; commitment to patient‑centered care and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in a hospital environment, including exposure to infectious diseases and high‑stress situations.
- Require visual, hearing, and manual dexterity to operate equipment, read labels, and interact with patients and staff.
- Frequent use of computer for documentation and medication preparation.
- Ability to stand or remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
Hourly rate: $56.76 – $87.59 (dependent on experience).
