Meat Cutter

A Meat Cutter breaks down, weighs, and packages various meat products for sale. They work safely with equipment such as meat saws, slicers, grinders, and knives. A Meat Cutter fulfills custom orders, such as cutting meat to customer specifications. They communicate any issues that would affect the quality standards of products sold to customers. Meat Cutters must follow all food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company and other regulatory agencies.

• Adhere to all company and governmental regulatory standards for the meat department with respect to receiving, processing invoices, refrigeration, pricing, temperature ranges of cases and processing areas.
• Have a thorough knowledge of fish, seafood and meat products.
• Able to respond to questions from guests regarding ingredients, preparation, related products and equipment required for preparation.
• Assist with identifying, selecting and purchasing the highest quality of meat products. May be responsible for ordering and maintaining proper inventories of products and supplies as directed by the Meat Manager.
• Capable of properly identifying, cutting, processing, rotating and merchandising all types of meat products according to company standards and guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of and maintains all grinds as per company standards.
• Required to function as a Fishmonger as needed. Must be capable of handling, gutting, boning, filleting, rotating and merchandising seafood products.
• Supports the team by taking on additional tasks or responsibilities as requested.

• Minimum age: 18 years.
• Weekend shifts are required (holidays as applicable).
• Permits:
  Food Handlers (preferred – willing to train).

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. Tasks include grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, twisting, crouching, and reaching; performing repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination tasks. Requires standing, walking, bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
