Key Responsibilities Cost Accounting & Product Profitability- Build, maintain, and validate standard costs
, BOMs, routings, labor rates, and overhead allocations. - Analyze the true cost of each manufactured part, including materials, labor, machine time, scrap, and burden.
- Partner with operations to ensure cost data reflects real production processes.
- Identify unprofitable parts
, explain root causes, and recommend pricing or process adjustments. - Monitor and report on manufacturing variances
, WIP, COGS, and margin trends.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Support external audits and tax preparation.
- Provide financial insights to leadership on pricing, profitability, and cost drivers.
- Improve financial processes, reporting, and systems to support growth.
- Develop dashboards and KPIs for cost, margin, and operational performance.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain to improve cost accuracy and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred but not required).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing cost accounting
. - Strong understanding of job costing
, standard costing
, and variance analysis
. - Proven experience managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
. - Ability to analyze complex cost structures and communicate findings clearly.
- Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Net Suite, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics).
This Controller will directly influence pricing strategy, operational efficiency, and profitability. The right person will ensure the company knows exactly what each part costs to make — and whether it’s being sold at the right margin.
