Director Of Curriculum

The Curriculum Director will have district-wide executive responsibility in areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, staff development, and school improvement. The director will provide leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the District's curriculum. The Curriculum Director shall report to the Superintendent of Schools.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Providing effective leadership in organization, development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services
• Providing leadership to coordinate and implement an effective professional development program for PreK-12 professional staff aligned with strategic plan
• Coordinating the District's and building(s) School Improvement Plans, Annual School Reports, and State reports, ensuring they align with the District Strategic Plan
• Providing administrative, professional, and nonprofessional staff information concerning research, developments, and best practices in education
• Coordinating local and state PreK-12 assessments and analyzing data providing appropriate curricular recommendations
• Representing Woodhaven-Brownstown School District by attending Wayne RESA Curriculum Director meetings, State and Federal Program Director meetings, RESA GSRP meetings, and other curricular related meetings
• Providing leadership to all curricular sub-committees, including the Curriculum Study Council
• Developing, recommending, and monitoring district policies related to instructional program
• Collaborating with building level administrators and the Director of Finance, to oversee State and Federal programs; including, but not limited to, planning, budgeting and reporting
• Providing input to the Superintendent of Schools regarding the implementation and efficacy of curriculum and instructional initiatives at the building/department level
• Developing, implementing, and evaluating an articulated program for the improvement of instruction
• Coordinating and leading K-12 comprehensive summer programs
• Directing and organizing the implementation instructional policies and educational programs by building principals and program directors
• Developing, coordinating, and overseeing the Multi-Tier System of Support at all levels
• Ensuring curricular and instructional programs are implemented with fidelity across the District
• Developing and monitoring the budget of the Curriculum Department
• Providing regular reports to the school community, including staff, parents, and stakeholders, on the progress of the District's curricular programs
• Assisting in various phases of the total educational program as requested by the Superintendent of Schools
• Serving as the District SCECH Coordinator
• Overseeing District Virtual Learning programs
• Overseeing the GSRP classrooms

Qualifications include:

• Possess a Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution with an emphasis in administration and curriculum or related field
• Holds, or is able to obtain, a valid Michigan Permanent or Continuing Certificate and State Administrative Certificate
• A minimum of five years successful teaching and five years successful administrative experience in a K-12 school setting
• Substantial graduate level coursework related to curriculum, instruction, and educational leadership beyond Master's Degree
